What is a Pint Glass? Wednesday, January 5, 2011

When you are giving your customers pint glasses as promotional items, you should probably know what glasses are exactly. Well, if you are giving away pint glasses, you should know more about them, so here is some information about the concept of the pint glass.

The pint glass is a drinking glass that is made to hold one British pint (20 imperial fluid ounces), or 16 U.S. fluid ounces. Typically, pints are made so that they will serve beer, but they can be used to serve other drinks as well. Naturally, they are very popular as a drinking vessel.

There are actually several different types of pint glassware to choose from for promotional gifts.

1. Conical glasses are shaped so that there is a cone around six inches tall that tapers about an inch in diameter over the height. This type of glass bulges out a few inches from the top to improve the grip of it and to prevent glasses from sticking together when they are stacked. These are very common in UK pubs and are essentially the quintessential pint glass.

2. Jug glasses are shaped like a large mug with a handle, and they are often molded with a grid pattern of thick glass on the outside to resemble the segmentation of a hand grenade from the Second World War. These glasses are rarer and are the more traditional form of pint glass. Individuals from older generations prefer these.

3. The Modern pint is usually taller and flare out at the top of the pint glass. These are usually used in breweries and are often associated with lagers on the continent of Europe. They are well-used in promotional campaigns for breweries because of their distinctive look. Do to the look of these glasses; they are often called Tulip pint.

Pint glasses are a great gift to give to your customers because they look great, they are used widely around the world and they can be a good way to advertise your company when you have your company name and logo on the pint glass. This helps people see your company name and that helps your business become profitable. Promotional glasses like pint glasses are one of the best marketing strategies that you can have. All you have to do is find the pint glasses that you think your customers are going to love.

Heres a virtual movie of British World War one soldier Frank Richards (1884 - 1961) reading his celebrated eyewitness account of the extraordinary temporary truce that occured between The bitterly opposed British and German soldiers during the Christmas Eve of 1914 "The Christmas Truce 1914" This eyewitness account appeared in Frank Richards, , Old Soldiers Never Die (1933); Kind Regards Jim Clark All rights are reserved on this video recording copyright Jim Clark 2009 Frank Richards was a British soldier who experienced the "Christmas Truce". We join his story on Christmas morning 1914: "On Christmas morning we stuck up a board with 'A Merry Christmas' on it. The enemy had stuck up a similar one. Platoons would sometimes go out for twenty-four hours' rest - it was a day at least out of the trench and relieved the monotony a bit - and my platoon had gone out in this way the night before, but a few of us stayed behind to see what would happen. Two of our men then threw their equipment off and jumped on the parapet with their hands above their heads. Two of the Germans done the same and commenced to walk up the river bank, our two men going to meet them. They met and shook hands and then we all got out of the trench. Buffalo Bill [the Company Commander] rushed into the trench and endeavoured to prevent it, but he was too late: the whole of the Company were now out, and so were the Germans. He had to accept the situation, so soon he and the other company officers climbed out ...
